A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A BEHAVIOR COACH
As a behavior coach, you play an essential role in acting as a "first responder" by putting treatment plans into action to prevent a child's behavior from escalating. When a therapist or child and family set goals, you directly help the family achieve those goals as well as get to observe and experience the challenges and progress being made. To do this, you work one-on-one with children in their homes, school, or the community. You collaborate with their parents or guardians and the child and family team. You then develop and teach age-appropriate interventions based on what you believe will work best with each individual client.
After teaching the behavioral interventions to your clients, you reinforce follow through and track your findings. You complete all necessary documentation as well as partake in weekly supervision and scheduled training to continuously improve your skills in the field. The work you do is important and is often used to prevent hospitalization and assist a child in transitioning to a lower level of care once they start making progress. You love having a job that makes a difference in the lives of the children and families that you serve, and this is why you thrive in this position in the behavioral health field!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A BEHAVIOR COACH
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, child development, education, or a related field
1+ years of experience working with children, adolescents, or families with behavioral difficulties
Knowledge about behavioral interventions such as behavior contracts, positive reinforcement, etc.
Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Are you able to work both independently and as part of a team? Can you balance multiple tasks while demonstrating good time management? Do you enjoy helping others? Can you remain positive and professional in stressful situations? Do you have empathy for others? If so, you may be perfect for this behavioral health position at our youth and family services agency!
